8. Donovan Peoples-Jones – Cass Tech
The favorite for the Mr. Football Award got his senior season off to a strong start, hauling in three catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns in Cass Tech’s season opening win over Oak Park.
7. Jared Smith – Pewamo-Westphalia
In a week one win over St. Mary Catholic Central, Smith continued racking up the big time rushing numbers, rushing for 217 yards and two touchdowns.
6. Kevin Willis – Detroit King
The Crusaders began the 2016 season in impressive form with a 39-0 win over Southfield A&T and Willis was a big reason why, rushing for 157 yards and four total touchdowns to lead the way for the Detroit King offense.
5. Jaylen Hall – Macomb Dakota
Three catches, 155 yards, three touchdowns. Every time Hall caught the ball on Thursday, big things happened for the Cougars. The definition of a big play receiver and a home run threat, Hall has made his statement that he is one of the most dangerous receivers in Michigan.
4. Cody White – Walled Lake Western
With starting quarterback John Tracy out of the lineup, White looked like a natural at the quarterback position, throwing for 175 yards and four touchdowns and tallying a fifth touchdown on the ground to lead Western past Farmington at the Big House.
3. Alec Bageris – Novi
It doesn’t get much better than six touchdowns and 324 yards on 15-of-21 passing. Bageris put up some monstrous numbers in the opening week with the help of his wide receiver, Anthony D’Annibale (12 catches, 223 yards) as Novi topped Hartland in week 1.
2. Hamze Elzayat – Dearborn Fordson
If you didn’t know his name before the football season started, chances are you know it now after a monstrous Week 1 performance in a comeback win over Canton. Elzayat accounted for almost 500 yards of total offense and five total touchdowns to lead the Tractors to a 40-35 win.
1. Kalil Pimpleton - Muskegon
Pimpleton proved he can and WILL be a jack-of-all trades in 2016 for the Big Reds. The Virginia Tech commit threw for 74 yards and two touchdowns, received for 60 yards and a score and also rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns.Tweet
