MIDWEST RECRUITING: Indiana State makes off with steals in Hankins and Barnes

Alarm clock alert.

Indiana State University has snagged itself a pair of SUPERSONIC SLEEPER SPECIALS in boys basketball recruits Jared Hankins (Lawrence North) and Cobie Barnes (Floyd Central).

Can you say INSANE VALUE?

The 6-foot-4 Hankins is an ultra-smooth shooting guard — he’s got pro-range from long distance and a lethal slashing ability when taking the rock to the rack. Barnes, 6-foot-6.5, is a beast on the wing at the small forward spot, primed for point splurges and YouTube-sensation like highlights off the break.

These are two guys with high-major talent oozing out of their pores. Both somehow got lost in the shuffle a bit in terms of high-major recruiting interest though. No worries, fellas. If Sycamore Hoop Nation was good enough for Larry Bird, it’s good enough for you. Don't be surprised if this cage-crazy in-state duo goes on to do some crazy nice things in Terre Haute in the years to come.

Hankins and Barnes each went into LARRY LEGEND mode last week, leading their respective high school clubs to victories while going bonkers in the stat sheet and swagger department. Barnes averaged more than 30 points per night in three wins for his Floyd Central squad and Hankins tossed in 32 in Lawrence North’s 73-70 takedown of Pike back on Friday.
