Detroit – A 16 yard pass from Muhammed Zahr to Hefdadeen Mashrah with 31 seconds left proved to be enough to lead Dearborn Fordson to a 28-24 win over Warren De La Salle on Friday night.
Zahr finished with 200 yards and two touchdowns through the air, while Mashrah finished with 59 yards receiving.
Early in the fourth quarter, Fordson trailed the Pilots 24-14 after a third quarter touchdown run from Allen Stritzinger from 57 yards out and a five yard touchdown pass from Joey Gabarino to Drew Beesley, but a 49 yard pass from Zahr to Abdallah Jaffal cut the Pilots lead to 24-21 with over nine minutes left to play.
Stritzinger rushed for 119 yards and two touchdown to lead the way for De La Salle.
De La Salle held a 10-0 lead after the first quarter after a field goal from Brandon Piwinski and the first rushing score from Stritzinger.
But Fordson would storm back to take a 14-10 lead into halftime with second quarter touchdowns coming from Jaffal and Central Michigan commit Jamil Sabbagh from nine yards out with 28 seconds left in the half.
Jaffal led all receivers with 72 yards receiving, while Sabbagh finished with 84 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving for Fordson.
East Grand Rapids 10, Forest Hills Central 0: A Noah Salsky field goal and a 40 yard touchdown pass from Mikey Roth to Mike Clifford accounted for the scoring for East Grand Rapids. Roth finished with 112 yards through the air and Clifford had 87 yards receiving. Brett Miller led Forest Hills Central with 149 yards passing.
Lowell 20, Grand Rapids Christian 12: The Lowell defense accounted for two scores, a Gabe Steed interception return for touchdown and an Austin Hoekstra fumble recovery in the end zone helped lead Lowell to a narrow win. Max Dean finished with 146 yards on the ground to pace the Lowell offense and a Josh Branagan touchdown grab from Ryan Stevens was the lone offensive touchdown for the Red Arrows.
Caledonia 44, Jenison 6: Eddie Kelly rushed for 177 yards and Jalen Burton added in 90 more yards on the ground to lead Caledonia. Kelly also accounted for five touchdowns for Caledonia.
Clarkston 37, Troy Athens 20: D.J. Zezula passed for 130 yards and three total touchdowns, including a 51 yard rushing touchdown in only one half of play for Clarkston.
Detroit Catholic Central 14, Detroit U-D Jesuit 0: Jarod Luomala rushed for over 80 yards and also added a passing touchdown, while Blake Livingston added in 61 yards on the ground and a score for the Shamrocks.
Clarkston Everest Collegiate 21, Burton Atherton 20: Sal Mastromatteo threw for 87 yards and a touchdown and added another score on the ground to lead the way for Everest. Elliot Senske accounted for two touchdowns of his own and Lucas Neme added in 89 yards rushing as well for Everest.
Lake Orion 40, Stoney Creek 21: Matt Krause rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns, while Zach Serzo added in 167 yards and two scores to lead the way for Lake Orion.
Hartland 24, Brighton 7: Zach Essner rushed for 110 yards and two touchdowns, while Noah Marshall added 69 yards on the ground and another touchdown to lead the way for Hartland. Nick Brish scored the lone touchdown for Brighton and Joseph Clifford rushed for 96 yards for the Bulldogs.
Holland West Ottawa 28, East Kentwood 21: Caleb McNitt threw for 266 yards and added in 34 yards on the ground and also had a hand in all four of West Ottawa’s touchdowns on the night to lead the Panthers. Michael Ivy rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries for East Kentwood.Tweet
