With the MHSAA football playoffs approaching, the stakes continue to rise across Michigan. Week 8 of the 2026 high school football season brings a loaded schedule featuring undefeated showdowns, conference championship battles, and some of the state's biggest rivalries.

From Detroit's Ford Field to communities across the state, teams are looking to build momentum and make a statement as the regular season winds down.

Here are 10 Michigan high school football games to watch for the week of October 12, 2026.

Walled Lake Western vs. South Lyon East — STATE CHAMPS! Gametime Live

Two Lakes Valley Conference contenders meet in a matchup with significant postseason implications. Walled Lake Western enters Week 8 riding the momentum of a dominant 77-28 victory over Walled Lake Northern, while South Lyon East looks to bounce back after suffering its first loss of the season against South Lyon.

Both teams have put together impressive campaigns, making this an important test as they prepare for the postseason.

STATE CHAMPS! Gametime Live will broadcast the matchup on Friday, October 16, with Countdown to Kickoff beginning at 6:00 PM and kickoff scheduled for 7:00 PM. Fans can watch live on the STATE CHAMPS! YouTube channel and Local 4+.

Detroit King vs. Detroit Cass Tech

One of Detroit's biggest football rivalries takes center stage at Ford Field as King and Cass Tech meet for the Detroit Public School League Blue Division championship.

The Technicians won the first meeting between these teams, 20-7, on September 25, overcoming a halftime deficit to secure the victory. Now, the Crusaders have an opportunity to even the score with a city championship on the line.

With Cass Tech looking to preserve its undefeated season and King seeking revenge, this rematch promises to be one of Week 8's marquee events.

Lumen Christi vs. Detroit Country Day

Two established Michigan high school football programs meet in an intriguing nonconference matchup.

Jackson Lumen Christi has once again established itself as a contender in Division 6, while Detroit Country Day enters with five victories and an opportunity to earn a statement win against a strong opponent.

With the playoffs approaching, this matchup provides both programs a valuable test against quality competition.

Clarkston vs. Harper Woods

An undefeated Clarkston team faces one of the Detroit area's most dangerous opponents in Harper Woods.

The Wolves have been among Michigan's top teams throughout the season, combining a productive offense with a defense that has consistently limited opponents. Harper Woods has also enjoyed an impressive campaign, dominating Oakland Activities Association Blue Division competition.

This nonconference showdown gives both teams a chance to measure themselves against another high-level opponent ahead of the postseason.

Saline vs. Temperance Bedford

Something has to give when two undefeated Southeastern Conference Red Division teams collide.

With the SEC Red championship at stake and both programs looking to maintain their undefeated seasons, this is one of the biggest matchups anywhere in Michigan.

Grand Blanc vs. Davison

The Saginaw Valley League South Division race takes center stage as Grand Blanc travels to Davison.

The Bobcats have put together an undefeated campaign, while Davison has responded to its lone loss with five consecutive victories. Both teams enter the matchup unbeaten in conference play, setting up a pivotal battle for the top spot in the standings.

Expect plenty of intensity as these two programs compete for conference bragging rights and momentum heading toward the playoffs.

DeWitt vs. Grand Ledge

The Capital Area Activities Conference Blue Division title race could be decided when DeWitt and Grand Ledge square off.

Grand Ledge enters the contest undefeated, while DeWitt has won five straight since its early-season loss to Mason. Both teams have dominated conference competition, making this head-to-head meeting a crucial moment in their seasons.

With championship implications and two talented teams on the field, this is one of the Lansing area's premier matchups of the regular season.

Monroe Jefferson vs. Monroe St. Mary Catholic Central

Two undefeated teams. One Huron League championship on the line.

Jefferson and St. Mary Catholic Central have each started the season with seven consecutive victories, setting up a winner-take-all showdown for the conference title.

Jefferson enters following a 36-0 victory over Grosse Ile, while SMCC kept its perfect season alive with a 27-14 win over Riverview. Both teams have demonstrated the ability to deliver in important moments, and Friday's meeting will determine who finishes on top of the Huron League.

Vicksburg vs. Edwardsburg

Another battle of unbeatens takes place in Southwest Michigan as Vicksburg travels to Edwardsburg.

Both teams are 7-0 overall and 5-0 in Wolverine Conference play, making this matchup a showdown for control of the league.

Vicksburg is building on its historic 2025 season, which included a run to the Division 4 state semifinals, while Edwardsburg continues to demonstrate why it remains one of Southwest Michigan's premier programs.

With both teams looking to keep their perfect records intact, this matchup has all the ingredients of a memorable Friday night.

Imlay City vs. Lutheran North

A key Blue Water Area Conference matchup rounds out this week's list.

Imlay City and Lutheran North enter Week 8 with identical 6-1 overall records and 5-1 conference marks. With both programs enjoying strong seasons, this meeting presents a major opportunity to strengthen their standing in the conference race.

As the regular season approaches its conclusion, a victory here could provide a significant boost heading into the MHSAA playoffs.

With multiple undefeated matchups, conference championships on the line, and a Detroit city title up for grabs, Week 8 promises to deliver some of the most exciting football of the 2026 regular season.
