Top juniors on the state’s prep baseball diamond

Tanner Allison (Portland OF/P) – Not much if anything this kid can’t do on the baseball field, lots of intangibles, too. Committed to Western Michigan

Keegan Baar (Hudsonville LHP) – Superstar southpaw that is durable, composed and lights-out in the clutch. Committed to Michigan State

Josh Bays (Lake Orion RHP/OF) – D1-level arm, D1-level bat, D1-level skills in the field in center. Currently uncommitted

Jake Bivens (Battle Creek Lakeview SS) – Rare talent in the middle of the infield. Committed to Michigan

Dan Chmielewksi (Utica Eisenhower OF) – Smart, smooth and quick to come through in a pinch, both on offense and defense. Committed to  Michigan State

Dazon Cole (Pontiac RHP/SS/CF) – Scouts are falling in love with this multi-talented diamond stud. Committed to Central Michigan

Matt Di Leo (Rockford C) – Defensive ace behind the plate. Committed to Oakland

Andrew Gonzales (Walled Lake Western RHP/3B) – WLW is becoming a D1 pitching prospect factory…the last two years Can Vieaux (Michigan State) and Jason Gamble (Central Michigan) have headed the Warriors’ staff, now it’s Gonzales turn to lead Western’s arms race for the next two. Committed to Michigan State

Brandon Hughes (Sterling Heights Stevenson LHP/CF) – Versatile and volatile with the bat in his grip, on the hill and in the field captaining the SHS outfield. Committed to Michigan

Oliver Jaskie (GR Forrest Hills Central LHP) – May be the most underrated player in the state, has all the right stuff. Committed to Michigan

Ty Kiafoulis (Birmingham Brother Rice OF) – Raw hitting prospect with massive pop in his bat and an emerging rifle from right field. Committed to Michigan

Logan Magsig (Hudsonville SS) – Most coveted unsigned prospect in the incoming senior class. Currently uncommitted

Nate Morris (Oxford RHP) – Steady and commanding is the best way to describe this Wildcats’ hard-working hurler. Committed to Michigan State

Grant Reuss (Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook LHP) – A swallow-you-up southpaw hurler with an overpowering fast ball and moxie on the mound. Committed to Michigan

Matt Ruppenthal (Birmingham Brother Rice RHP) – Top righty hurler in the state, regardless of grade named a preseason All-American and the only member of the Class of 2014 headed to play his college ball down south. Committed to Vanderbilt

Will Salter (OL St. Mary’s C) – The consummate anchor behind the plate. Committed to Michigan State

Brad Schaenzer (Lake Orion LHP) – Top lefty hurler in the state, regardless of grade, dominant and poised pill-chucker. Currently uncommitted

Josh Smith (Marysville SS) – Turns a lot of heads with the way he controls the infield and then can cut loose at the dish. Currently uncommitted

Kory Young (Rockford SS) – Great athlete and leader, one of the top position players in the state right now as only a junior. Committed to Michigan State

Dennis Jordan (St. Josephs RHP/OF) – Power, power, power, in every facet of his game and one of the hottest commodities in the area’s recruiting landscape right now. Currently uncommitted

Josh Smith (Birmingham Brother Rice LHP ) – Under-the-radar lefty pitcher destined for the SEC and the Kentucky Wildcats
