BASEBALL FINALS: A look back at the dozen best individual performances from the 2021 OHSAA Baseball finals

Now that the results from Akron’s Canal Park have had some time to settle, we look back at a dozen of the top performances from the OHSAA baseball semifinals and finals earlier this month:

Colin Ames, P/2B, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy — Went 2-for-3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in the 4-1 win over Archbold in the D-III finals, after picking up the win on the mound in the 7-1 semifinal victory over Barnseville. He allowed one run on four hits in five innings, striking out seven and walking three in five innings of work.
Brady Conley, P, New Albany — Pitched 1.2 scoreless innings to get New Albany out of a potential game-tying four-run jam in the sixth, earning the save in the Division 1 championship game win over Cincinnati Elder. Also threw an inning of scoreless relief in New Albany’s 6-2 win over CF Walsh Jesuit in the DI semifinals.
Parker Falkenstein, CF, Akron Hoban — The freshman’s go-ahead double in the bottom of the fifth inning proved to be the game-winning RBI in Hoban’s 4-3 win over Vermilion in the DII semifinals.
Jackson Grimmelsman, P/1B, Cincinnati Elder — Allowed just one run on six hits, striking out four and walking one in Elder’s 4-1 Division 1 semifinal win over Toledo St. John’s, going 2-for-4 t the plate. He was 0-for-3 with a walk in the title-game loss to New Albany.
Michael Mauro, LF, Warren JFK — Was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI in Warren JFK’s 4-0 win over Van Wert Lincolnview in the Division IV finals.
Landon Price, P/1B, Van Wert Lincolnview — Gave up just one unearned run in a two-hitter, striking out 14 and walking one, as Lincolnview beat Lucasville Valley, 2-1, in the Division IV semifinals. He was 2-for-3 in the 4-0 title-game loss to Warren JFK.
Cooper Robinson, P/3B, Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy — Allowed just one run on two hits, striking out 11 and walking one in a 4-1 win over Archbold in the Division III title game. Robinson walked three times at the plate in a 7-1 semifinal win over Barnesville.
Jayden Seiler, P, Archbold — Tossed a three-hit shutout of Canton Central Catholic in a 1-0 win in the D-III semifinals, striking out six and walking one.
Gavin Shrum, P/SS, Warren JFK — Tossed a five-hit shutout of Van Wert Lincolnview in the Division IV title game, striking out seven and walking one. Also went 2-for-4 from the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base. In the 3-2 win over Fort Loramie in the semifinals, he was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Matt Terzola, 2B, Akron Hoban — Scored the game-winning run in Akron Hoban’s 10-inning, 2-1 victory over Bloom-Carroll in the Division II title game, walking and advancing to third on a pair of wild pitches, then coming home on a sacrifice fly by Mike Ciavolella. Terzola went 1-for-2 and was hit by a pitch in Hoban’s 4-3 win over Vermilion in the semifinals.
Brock Tibbitts, C, New Albany — Went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and three runs scored for New Albany in the Division I title-game win over Cincinnati Elder, after going 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI in the 6-2 semifinal win over CF Walsh Jesuit.
Dillon Walsh, P, Akron Hoban — Tossed four innings of one-hit scoreless relief to get the win in Hoban’s 10-inning, 2-1 victory over Bloom-Carroll in the Division II title game.
