Basketball Recruiting Notebook — Edison’s Eaton Commits To CMU, Jamison Gets DI Offer

By: SCOTT BURNSTEIN, October 18, 2022, 10:39 am

CMU went shopping in Eastern Market and came away with a diamond in the ruff out of backcourt.

Detroit Edison senior point guard Bryce Eaton committed to Central Michigan over the weekend. Edison’s campus sits on the northeast edge of the historic Eastern Market.

Eaton is a smooth-operator of a point guard, a baby-faced assassin who can score, distribute and defend. He averaged 20 points and 5 assists per night last winter, taking his club to a Division 2 district championship.

First to the party

Port Huron Northern senior small forward Tyler Jamison just got his first DI offer from Farleigh Dickinson. His PHN squad won a MAC Blue title in 2022 while he put up monster stats.

The 6-foot-5 Jamison was a first-team all-state selection las season as a junior, sheeting a glitzy 30 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists per game.

Farleigh Dickinson is a small DI program in New Jersey that plays out of the Northeast Conference. FDU has punched a pair of tickets to the NCAA Tournament in the past decade under head coach Greg Herenda.

The GLIAC has been recruiting Jamison the hardest. Ferris State, Grand Valley State, Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State all have bids on the table.

Keeping tabs on Trey

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s sophomore wing guard Trey McKenney, the No. 1 recruit in the state, visited Indiana University last weekend and Illinois this past weekend. McKenney (6-5) averaged 16 points and 10 rebounds per game as a fab frosh.
