Bears Baller Alert: Road to repeat for Warren Central goes through Lawrence Central

By: Scott Burnstein, January 31, 2019, 8:10 pm

Warning shot fired.

Lawrence Central recently served notice to defending Class 4A boys basketball state champ Warren Central that sectionals will be no walk in the park. The Bears (16-3) snapped Warren Central’s 46-game winning streak (third-longest in IHSAA history) last week with a 55-44 victory, just days after they had taken WC to the brink in a 60-56 down-to-the-wire loss in the Marion County Tournament Finals. Act 3 will most likely take place in the first week of the state tourney.

Alright, let’s roll call it:

Nijel Pack (Jr. G) — Elite point guard, cash money in the clutch, the straw that stirs the drink for the Bears offense.

Dre Davis (Jr. G/F) — This University of Nebraska-commit can slay the comp in so many ways coming off the wing and has a Swagger Level that is on the verge of reaching downright dangerous proportions.

Jake LaRavia (Sr. F) — Signed with SIU-Edwardsville, LaRavia is a force of nature out of the frontcourt, just as steady and savvy as they come.

Xavier DelReal (Sr. G) — The REAL DEAL HOLYFIELD of a role player, always ready to grip it and rip it.

Wes Jordan (Sr. C) — Fresh 2 Death down low!!

P.J. Edwards (Jr. G/F) — Could be the X Factor for Team Gooden in the postseason.

Greg Jenkins (Soph. G/F) — Lip-smacking potential, plays hard and smart.

D’Ante Davis (Fr. G/F) — Already showing flashes of his big bro’s high-wattage talent.

Shawn Hart (Jr. F), Deonte Banks (Jr. G/F) & Travis Rogers (Sr. G) — The "Glue Guys" are getting busy too!!
