BEST OF MICHIGAN: South Bend Washington shuts down Ypsi Arbor Prep
BELLEVILLE — South Bend (Ind.) Washington used defense and rebounding to beat Ypsilanti Arbor Prep, 57-48, at the LBI Best of Michigan Holiday Classic at Belleville High School on Saturday.
The Panthers (8-4) held Arbor Prep (4-2) to just 30.2 percent shooting for the game, and cleaned up most of those misses, collecting 26 defensive rebounds, and out rebounding the Gators, 42-29. Washington had a 30-14 advantage on points in the paint, and 15-8 on second-chance points.
The Panthers led by just one point entering the fourth, 39-38, but held Arbor Prep to just one field goal — with 5:42 left — on 1-for-15 shooting in the final frame.
Sisters Amiyah and MIla Reynolds had 21 points each, with Amiyah adding 15 rebounds, and MIla nine. Rashunda Jones had 13 points and eight rebounds.
Mya Petticord had eight points and six rebounds for Arbor Prep, while Kyra Lawrence had 12 points and five boards.
