The quintessential Circle City ballhawk is going to be a Boilermaker.
Carmel junior safety Winston Berglund committed to Purdue over the weekend.
The big-impact playmaker is Purdue’s second grab for its’ 2023 recruiting class. This kid hits like a ton of bricks, displays elite instinct anchoring a secondary and a top-rate motor to get him to wherever the ball is in a hurry.
He had 19 offers. Scouting services tab him a 3-star prospect.
Berglund (6-2, 195) collected 93 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 fumble recoveries and 8 pass breakups last season. After his stellar 2021 campaign, he turned the corner on his recruiting. His stock went through the roof the past three months, with Berglund attracting bids from Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Northwestern, Indiana, South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest. Purdue offered in February.
