A look back on who were the stars at the MHSAA baseball finals and semis

Five For Fighting – The Top Efforts From The MHSAA baseball finals
1 Brett Upton (Beal City) – Went all JUSTIN VERLANDER and pitched a 1-hit gem in his club’s 10-0 defeat of Unionville Sebewaing for the D4 state championship. Verlander…..wait, I mean Upton, struck out eight batters in the complete-game outing and added an RBI double to aid his cause from the plate.
2 Matt Silka (Riverview Gabriel Richard) – His parents should think about renaming him Matt SILKY after what he did up in East Lansing over the weekend – this kid was silky smooth on the bump Saturday, throwing a masterful 1-hitter in Richard’s 3-0 blanking of defending champ Madison Heights Bishop Foley in the D3 finals
3 Cam Shook (Grosse Pointe South) – There was a THER-A-FLU SPECIAL on the mound chucking in the D1 state final, as Shook was PURE SICKNESS in his compete-game, 5k dandy to lead South to an 8-1 walloping of Woodhaven
4 Keegan Haynes (Beal City) – This BC third baseman put the BOOM BOOM POW on the Unionville Sebewaing’s pitching staff, pounding out three hits and a pair of RBI
5 Anthony Dermanulian (Grosse Pointe South) – Shredding like a julienne salad at the dish, Dermanulian dropped a bomb on Woodhaven in the form of a bases-clearing 3-run double
