Burney’s Backcourt Roll Call – Droves Of Depth On PSL Hoops Scene

By: Scott Burnstein, February 13, 2018, 7:00 pm
The crop of lock-and-loaded backourts in the Detroit PSL is deep this winter. We’re talking subterranean levels of talented guard play.

Here’s a look at Burney’s best of the bunch:

David DeJulius & Tariq Shepherd (Detroit East English Village) – Diverse tandem with quick trigger fingers. DeJulius is an all-state senior point guard and Mr. Basketball candidate headed to the University of Michigan.

Anthony Roberts & Deonte Ulmer (Detroit Henry Ford) – These two bring a boatload of firepower and rip-roaring nets at a fast and furious pace this year. Roberts is signed with Bryant University out east and Ulmer is one of the top 3-point bombers in the Metro Detroit area.

Dejuan Seals & Ron Hill (Detroit Pershing) – Defines the term “Fire & Ice” tandem and does it with STYYYYYLE!!

Tyson Acuff, Chris Murry & Matt Richmond (Detroit Cass Tech) – Can you say THREE-HEADED MONSTER?

Keon Henderson & Cortez Garland (Detroit Renaissance) – The frontcourt at Renaissance gets a lot of deserved hype, but don’t sleep on this fab frosh-senior combo in the backcourt. Young pup Henderson is showing a high hardwood IQ at the controls of the offense, while Garland goes for broke every time out.

Marcus Gibbs & Jordan Whittford (Detroit King) – Gibbs is a straight gunner, Whittford is a steadying presence putting in work right next to him…..that makes for a crushing pair of Crusaders backcourt “nothing-but nylon nasties.”

P.J. Mitchell & Gary Solomon (Detroit Edison) – “Eastern Market Prep” unleashes a MAD NICE duo in Central Michigan-destined floor general Mitchell and LIU-Brooklyn-bound wing guard.
