CactusLand Confidential – An Eaglet Flies Away

Ryan Johnson is off to play in the sun.
Play football that is. Johnson, a hardnosed ball-carrier for Orchard Lake St. Mary’s two-time defending state champion gridiron gang (D3) won’t be going for the three-peat with the Eaglets in the fall. He recently moved to Arizona to live with his mother and will play his senior season of prep pigskin in the Southwest instead of the Midwest. Man, is the Sun Belt lucky to be getting this dynamic talent who might possibly stay around to play his college ball.
The fleet-footed 5-foot-10, 170-pound tailback began getting interest from Arizona State University last summer after attending a Sun Devil’s prospect camp. His departure opens up the door for a breakout 2016 campaign out of incoming St. Mary’s junior Rayshawn Allen, an elusive and speedy rusher who’s been on varsity since the end of his freshman season. Allen could be a total stud no doubt, but Johnson will nonetheless be missed in OLSM’s drive for Banner No. 3 in a row.
