The best defensive player in Macomb County, Clinton Township Chippewa Valley junior inside linebacker, Marcel Lewis, committed to Michigan State this week. Lewis (6-2, 215 pounds) is a 3-star prospect and registered 88 tackles in 2017. According to multiple scouting sites, he decided between MSU and Michigan. He also had power conference offers from Minnesota, Iowa, Purdue, Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Syracuse, and Pitt.

All-PSL LB-DE Tyrece Woods will be playing for Belleville this fall. Woods (6-2, 225 pounds) was at Detroit King the past three seasons. He played on the 2016 Division 2 state title team as a sophomore. Last year King lost, 14-13, to eventual state-champion Warren De La Salle in a semifinal.  Woods, who recorded 70 tackles, and five sacks in 2017, joins a stacked Belleville squad featuring blue chippers like WR-CB Julian Barnett (Michigan State) and 4-star lineman Devontae Dobbs.

Brad Bush has resigned from his coaching job at Chelsea High School after 21 seasons on the job. He’ll stay on with the school as its athletic director. His career record is 169-60. Bush’s clubs qualified for the playoffs in 18 of his 21 campaigns, winning seven district titles. In 2015, the Bulldogs made an appearance in the Division 2 state championship game.

Oak Park’s Enzo Jennings, a 6-2, 175-pound sophomore cornerback, could be the hottest recruit in the state right now. In just the past week, Jennings has scored scholarship offers from SEC powers Alabama, Georgia and Auburn. Expect to see him rushing the rock in the upcoming campaign.
