Climbing The Ladder Of Success – Furtney Flies To New Heights

By: Scott Burnstein, October 8, 2016, 1:28 am
Milan junior football standout Mike Furtney is seeing his recruiting stock soar this fall. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound offensive lineman has scooped his first five Division I scholarship offers in the last two weeks. All the recent bids hail from the Mid-American Conference: Bowling Green, Toledo, Western Michigan, Central Michigan and Eastern Michigan have each extended offers.

A little bird told Burney, expect the Big 10 to get in on the action soon with this talented and tenacious tackle prospect. This kid is the definition of a high-riser, a Dow Joneser, a true playa 4 life on and off the field. So please, do yourself a favor and keep an eye on him because he’s about to make like a bomb and EXPLODE!!

Furtney and Division 4 Milan are undefeated at 6-0 and ranked No. 9 in the state. Milan competes out of the Huron League.  Last year, the Big Reds won a district championship.
