Diaper Dandy St. Mary’s Diamond Cutters Cut A Rug To DI Scholarships

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s baseball program recently placed a pair of underclassmen at the Division I college level, with the commitments of junior centerfielderCarter Macias to West Point and sophomore shortstop Dillon Kark to Michigan State. Eaglets’ skipper Matt Petry has now sent eight players to the DI ranks in the past half-dozen years.
Petry led St. Mary’s to a Division 2 state championship in 2015. Macias, a natural in the field and at the plate – he switch hits – was a contributor on the state-title club’s roster as a freshman. Last spring, the Eaglets finished 26-14, losing in the regional finals. For the upcoming 2017 campaign, St. Mary’s has been bumped up to Division 1 competition.
Kark was a utility player for the Eaglets as a fab frosh last season. In the offseason, he worked intently on his craft and hit the weight room hard.
“Dillon has made some big strides and he saw his recruiting process really speed up as a result,” said Petry of his prized middle infielder.
