Eight Michigan players selected in 2020 NA3HL Draft, three in first round

The North American 3 Hockey League held its draft on Thursday, and eight Michigan players were taken in the eight-round draft, three of them in the first round. 

The NA3HL is a Tier III junior league with 36 teams spread over 17 states, with the goal of showcasing amateur players for the North American Hockey League and the NCAA. You can see the full results of the draft HERE.

Hudsonville High School’s Ryan Blackburn went No. 4 overall to the Wausau RiverWolves, while  Shelby Township native Bobby Hathcock went No. 8 to the Louisiana Drillers, and Calumet’s Alex Mattila went at No. 10 to the Helena Bighorns.

Midland Dow’s Austin Leuter went in the second round (No. 41 overall) to the Bighorns. The Butte Cobras took a pair of players from Stoney Creek, grabbing Jack Davidson in the second round (No. 34 overall), and Nick VanGoethem in the third round (No. 66 overall). Jason Crossland of Dearborn Unified went in the fourth round (No. 112 overall) to the Atlanta Capitals, while Aidan Talsma of Hudsonville went later in the round round (No. 124 overall) to the Northeast Generals.
