FIVE FOR FIGHTING: The top 5 field general performances in the 2019 MHSAA football finals

1 Joe Silveri (Grand Rapids Catholic Central) — And the legend of “Joey Football” was born … enough said!!!

Stats: Throws for 236 yards and four TDs, runs for 145 yards and two TDs in a 44-0 stomping of Birmingham Detroit Country Day in D4.

2 Brendan Sullivan (Davison) — Made a STRONG argument that he’s the No. 1 quarterback in the state.

Stats: Throws for 290 yards and a TD and runs for another 41 yards and two scores in a 35-25 win over Brighton in D1.

3 Mareyohn Hrabowski (River Rouge) — YEAH, THAT JUST HAPPENED!!! He just out-did Cam Martinez.

Stats: Ran for 180 yards and three TDs and was LITTTTTTTTTTTT like a Panther-customized victory cigar in a monumental 30-7 upset of the Big Reds from Muskegon in D3.

4 Brady Rose (Muskegon Mona Shores) — One of the most beautiful and CASH MONEY back-up efforts in the history of the MHSAA final four, taking the reins in the first quarter of the semis and straight lapping the comp in his 7.5 quarters of action under center delivering the Sailors the program’s first state crown.

Stats: Throws for 122 yards and a TD and rushes for 90 yards and 3 TDs (he had 10 tackles in the secondary too for good measure!!) in a 35-26 downing of favored Detroit King in D2.

5 Zach Gillespie (Lansing Catholic) — Caps one of the true great breakout senior campaigns of all-time.

Stats: Throws for 187 yards and two TDs and motors for 45 yards and two TDs in a 31-17 defeat of Almont in D5.
