Football Recruiting Radar – The Offseason Ticker Begins

By: Scott Burnstein, December 12, 2017, 4:00 pm
News and notes from around the state’s recruiting landscape:

Detroit Cass Tech cornerback Kalon Gervin and Muskegon quarterback LaDarius Jefferson have committed to play on the gridiron at Michigan State. Some recruiting services rate Gervin (5-foot-10, 170 pounds) the No. 1 prospect in the state of Michigan’s Class of 2018. Jefferson (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) was this year’s Mr. Football Award winner and just led his Big Reds to the Division 3 state title. He recently de-committed from Central Florida. What position he plays at the college level still remains to be seen.

Utica Eisenhower quarterback, Max Wittwer, one of the best signal callers Macomb County has ever producer, recently committed to Air Force. The 6-foot-2 dual threat under center is the definition of a gamer and a winner.

West Bloomfield offensive lineman Javon Foster will be playing his college pigskin in the SEC. He linked up with Missouri over the weekend, accepting a scholarship from the Tigers after de-committing from Central Michigan following West Bloomfield’s run into Ford Field and the Division 1 state finals. Foster (6-foot-7, 300 pounds) was a force on both sides of the line for the OAA Red champion Lake Show in 2017.

Belleville cornerback Patrick Lupro is headed to the Mid-American Conference and committed to Western Michigan earlier this week. Lupro (5-foot-9, 185 pounds) has wheels, instinct and great cover skills.

Birmingham Detroit Country Day linebacker Kolin Demens and Muskegon offensive lineman Antwan Reed are both back on the market. Demens (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) vacated his commitment from UCLA and Reed (6-foot-6, 325 pounds) de-committed from Penn State.
