The Class of 2019 on the football field is stacked with some doozies in the defensive backfield. Here are Burney’s Top 15 secondary prospects for the incoming senior crop of recruits.

1 Marvin Grant (Detroit King S) – Best safety prospect in the class

2 Julian Barnett (Belleville CB) – Best corner prospect in the class

*committed to Michigan State

3 Roderick Heard (Farmington Hills Harrison CB) – A real HOT ROD of a talent plain and simple

*committed to Northwestern

4 Jalen Graham (Detroit Cass Tech S) – The quintessential free safety, quarterbacking a defense with intelligence and efficiency

5 Aidan Harrison (Flushing S) – There’s a reason he’s headed to the SEC

*committed to Missouri

6 Josh DeBerry (Warren De La Salle CB) – The top cover corner in the Catholic League

7 Xavier Goldsmith (Detroit Cass Tech CB) – The top cover corner in the PSL

*committed to Colorado State

8 Elija Griffin (Detroit East English Village Prep CB) – Beginning to really gain traction in his recruiting, just picked up an offer from Purdue

9 M.J. Griffin (Saline S) – Major upside at the next level, an intriguing mix of power and finesse

10 Marcus Fuqua (Southfield A&T S) – One of the smartest and hardest hitting players in the OAA

11 Ahmad Gardner (Detroit King CB) – Just a smooth operator in so many ways, once he adds some weight to his frame watch out!!

12 Jordan Anderson (Detroit East English Village Prep S) – Maybe the most underrated player at his position in his class

13 Kyrin McKinnie-Harper (Detroit Cass Tech CB) – Battled injury bug last season, has a huge senior season in store for the competition

14 Ormondell Dingle (Detroit Cass Tech S) – Bellringer with great natural instincts, could move higher on this list

15 Daraun McKinney (River Rouge CB) – Small but tenacious, a technician at his craft

Player to watch:

Kortez Toles (Grand Blanc CB) – Big, athletic corner ready to break out, expect this kid’s recruiting to sky rocket in the next few months.
