GIRLS BASKETBALL POWER RANKINGS: Burney’s cream of the crop in MHSAA hoops for 2018-19

Burney’s top 10 girls hoopsters in the MHSAA

1. Rickea Jackson (Detroit Edison Sr. F) — Signed with Mississippi State, Jackson is a juggernaut in every way and the runaway favorite for Miss Basketball.

2. Mo Joiner (Saginaw Heritage Sr. G) — Signed with Michigan State, Joiner is the state’s top point guard.

3. Julia Ayrault (Grosse Pointe North Sr. G/F) — Signed with Michigan State, Ayrault is a deadly do-it-all threat on the wing.

4. Jeanae Terry (Wayne Memorial Sr. G) — Signed with Illinois, Terry is a terror in the open court.

5. Alyza Winston (Muskegon Sr. G) — Signed with Michigan State, Winston blazes a trail of greatness out of the backcourt.

6. Gabrielle Elliott (Detroit Edison Jr. G/F) — Arguably the No. 1 junior in the state, the crafty Elliott is one smooth operator on the hardwood.

7. Laya Hartman (Okemos Sr. F) — Signed with Northwestern, Hartman is a handful for defenders to deal with combining a refined skill set with a tough-as-nails attitude and high hoop IQ.

8. Kate McArthur (Warren Cousino Sr. G) —Signed with Central Michigan, McArthur is probably the state’s best pure shooter.                  

9. Destiny Strother (Flint Carman-Ainsworth Sr. G) — Signed with Marquette, Strother is another in a long line of fearless Flintstone floor generals.

10. Jasmine Powell (Birmingham Detroit Country Day Sr. G/F) — Signed with Minnesota, Powell packs quite a punch as maybe the state’s premier slasher.
