Girls tournament reaches quarterfinal round and all four favorites, Marian, Goodrich, Arbor Prep, St. Ignace, sill alive
Dearborn – Detroit Country Day has been the most dominant team in Class B in the last 20 years as the Yellowjackets have won nine titles since defeating Grand Rapids West Catholic 44-32 in the 1995 final.
Dearborn Divine Child is in the conversation when discussing some of the top teams in this class over the years. The Falcons have won five titles since winning their first in 1986.
Divine Child (20-5) lost three times this season to Birmingham Marian, the team favored to win the Class A title. Its other losses were to Saginaw Nouvel, a Class C quarterfinalist, and Farmington Hills Mercy, a team that won a Class A district.
Country Day (19-4) always plays a demanding schedule. Its losses have come to three Class A schools and to Ypsilanti Arbor Prep, a Class C quarterfinalist. Pick: Country Day by 5.
