Here’s What’s Coming Next – Junior Wide Receivers To Watch In The Mitten

The state’s junior class on the gridiron doesn’t have the high-wattage prospects at the wide receiver and tight end positions like the Class of 2017 (see Donovan Peoples-Jones, Ambry Thomas, Hunter Rison, Cody White etc..)but there are still some diamonds in the ruff to be found.
Here’s a three pack of pass-catching gems Burney has his eye on for 2018.
Brandon Gray (Detroit Cass Tech 3-star prospect) – Straight killer in the red zone on the fade route, possesses the wheels to decimate opposing secondaries deep on fly routes too. Just got back to Cass Tech after playing the last two seasons for Southfield and then Southfield A&T following the merger. Arkansas, Iowa State, Pitt, Syracuse, Bowling Green and Akron have all extended offers
Taj Mustapha (West Bloomfield 2-star prospect) – Equally dangerous cutting up cornerbacks going long or running underneath routes going across the middle. Speed, soft hands and Sir-Grind-A-lot work ethic. Currently boasts scholarship bids from Syracuse, Eastern Michigan, Ball State and Toledo
Lee Payton (River Rouge 3-star prospect) – This hybrid, “new era” tight end prodigy has the highest upside at the next level for any downfield threat in the state’s incoming senior class. Think Devin Funchess. He already has offers from Florida, Syracuse, Toledo, Bowling Green and Eastern Michigan. Expect many, many more to land at Payton’s doorstep before the 2017 campaign kicks off.
