Jenison hoopster signs with American U.; Henry steps down as Pershing boys basketball coach

College connections
Jenison senior guard Jacob Boonyasith signed with American University, a Division I college out of the Patriot League. The 6-3 gunner poured in 25 points per game this past winter on his way to becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer.
Grand Rapids Catholic Central senior forward Jacob Polakovich inked with the University of Indianapolis on the DII level. Standing 6-8 and able to play both forward spots, Polakovitch helped lead GRCC into the Class B state finals last month.
New Haven senior forward Ashton Sherrell signed penned his letter of intent to play at Lake Superior State in the GLIAC next year. The 6-7 Sherrell won a Class B state title as a junior in 2017 and ended his prep career back in the final four in 2018.
Coaching carousel
Chelsea has brought back Josh Tropea, who has been an assistant at Spring Arbor University the past two years. Tropea was on the bench at Chelsea in 2015 and 2016. He led Milan to a Class B state crown in 2014.
