Here’s a half-dozen prep football recruits from across Metro Detroit beginning to gain significant traction in the recruiting game. In other words, these are some SIR-GRIND-A-LOTS you need to know about. So here’s the 411:
Julian Barnett (Belleville Soph. WR) – The quintessential home run threat, a big-play burner with electricity dripping from his pours, about to embark on an epic climb up the prospect charts…..has offers from Missouri, Kentucky, Iowa State, Central Michigan and Toledo
Austin Brown (Detroit Catholic Central Soph. QB) – Gunslingers’ mentality and moxie in the pocket, in the huddle and in the locker room, plain and simple a winner, a workhorse, the kind of kid that will out hustle and out think the competition, did a mighty fine Russell Wilson impression in the district finals versus Novi, putting up 180 yards and three touchdowns….has offers from Akron, Miami (OH), and Toledo
Andre Carter (Southfield A&T Jr. DE) – A natural in the pass rush department, intriguing blend of speed, power and instinct coming off the edge, high motor, self-starter type, plays with hunger and grit, had two sacks in A&T’s district championship win…..has offers from Boston College, Iowa State, Cincinnati, Temple, Ball State, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Miami (OH) and Toledo
Lee Payton (River Rouge Jr. TE) – Part of the new breed at the position, a picture-perfect hybrid tight end-wide out, wheels, soft hands, sick hops, basketball player’s build think Devin Funchess, Antonio Gates…….has offers from Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green, and Toledo
Dyontae Johnson (Detroit Cass Tech LB) – Cagey, long, athletic and fundamentally-sound, total package on the outside, able to plug the gaps, rush the quarterback and defend in pass coverage….has an offer Cincinnati
Ernest Allen (Birmingham Groves Sr. RB) – Somebody PLEASE give this young man an offer, he’s the heart-and-soul back every college program needs in its recruiting class…..got busy for 2 trips over the goal line back on Friday in the Falcons’ district title raising done against Brother Rice
