King James Finally Takes His Throne

By: Scott Burnstein, September 10, 2015, 11:46 pm

After paying his dues in the assistant coaching and JV ranks the past decade, Kellen James is going to the SHOW. His hardwood kingdom awaits in the city of Rochester.

James was hired as the new girls basketball coach at Stoney Creek High School Thursday. He’s replacing Brad Crighton and inheriting a high-quality program, one of the better Lady Cage Crews in the OAA (the Cougars have made six straight appearances in Class A district finals. The last three years James’ was Stoney Creek’s JV coach and top assistant. Over the years, he’s cut his teeth on both the local girls and boys hoop scene. This guy is first-class all the way, with the exact right temperament, tactical skill and player rapport to maintain Crighton’s winning legacy in the program.

Burney projects a high success rate for James spearheading the Cougars Den girls Roundball brigade . It’s a no-brainer. Look who he learned the game from. Besides Crighton, James is a disciple of some of the best sideline generals around in Steve Emert, Tom Negoshian and John Hall.

Here’s to wishing my man KJ nothing but luck, love and lots and lots of victories in his new job manning the Stoney Creek bench!
