MIDWEST RECRUITING: Dearborn TE Tommy Guajardo commits to Michigan State

Everything was turning up green, from the holiday, to the weather, to the Big Ten basketball title to the football recruiting trail.
The top tight end in the state’s junior class, Dearborn’s Tommy Guajardo, decided to “Go Green” over St. Patrick’s Day Weekend. The versatile, high-upside three-star pass catcher committed to Michigan State. He’s the Spartans second snag for the Class of 2020 in recent weeks, following East Kentwood offensive lineman Dallas Fincher’s commitment in late February.
Guajardo (6-foot-3, 230 pounds) has been one of the fastest-rising recruits in the state this offseason. His prospect status went from 0-to-100 and all of sudden he had suitors from the Big Ten, Big 12 and the ACC. He fielded offers from Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, N.C. State, Iowa State, West Virginia and Kansas State, among others.
Last year, Guajardo caught 25 passes for 425 yards and four touchdowns. On defense, he can play linebacker and safety and had 48 tackles in 2018.
