Five For Fighting — Burney’s Top 5 Freshmen Football Recruits

1 Will Johnson (Grosse Pointe South CB/WR) — Let’s just start calling him “Will the Thrill” right now.

2 Myles Rowser (Belleville S) — Mad skills and natural instinct out of the secondary.

3 Alex Van Sumeren (Essexville Garber LB) — Beast mode 24/7 just like big bro.

4 Tag Bonnema (Zeeland East LB) — Beast mode 24/7 just like big bro Pt. 2.

5 Antonio Gates, Jr. (Dearborn Fordson WR) — 24-karat Magic is definitely in the air whenever this phenom pass-grabber and red zone nightmare steps on the field.

Plus three more:

Muskegon’s Myles Walton (CB/WR) started his whole freshman campaign with the Big Reds and showed flashes of brilliance.

Expect West Bloomfield’s Michael Williams (LB/H-Back) and Dillon Tatum (SB) to be punishing the comp in the OAA for the next three years: Williams is a workhorse on both sides of the ball and despite not having played a varsity snap yet snatched a Michigan offer recently. Tatum saw some minutes on varsity at the end of the 2018 season and can do damage rushing or catching the rock.
