Mo Joiner has decided to join the Spartans basketball family.
The Saginaw Hertiage girls hoops star committed to Michigan State over the weekend. Joiner is a flashy, yet fundamentally and versatile floor general fresh off leading her Hawks club to a Class A state crown. She’s considered a top candidate for the state’s 2019 Miss Basketball award.
Last year as a junior, Joiner dotted the stat sheet for 16 points, 8 assists, 8 rebounds and 4 steals per game along with being named the Associated Press’ Player of the Year in Class A. An A student in the classroom, she intends on majoring in bio-chemistry once she reaches East Lansing for college. Michigan State finished 19-14 in 2018.
With Joiner and her backcourt mate Mallory McCartney returning for Heritage next winter, the Hawks will have the chance to repeat as state champions. McCartney recently committed to Ferris State.
