East Lansing has hired alum Ray Mitchell to be the school’s new boys basketball coach and Birmingham Brother Rice has brought on Ricky Palmer to head the Warriors hoops program. Mitchell was a sensational point guard for the Trojans in the 1990s and an assistant on Lansing Sexton squads that claimed back-to-back Class B state championships in 2011 and 2012. Palmer prepped at Birmingham Detroit Country Day in the early 2000s and was the ‘Jackets top assistant in state-title campaigns in 2010 and 2013.
Detroit Catholic Central just snagged Brandon Sinawi as its new sideline general. Sinawi is fresh off taking Novi to the Class A final four. He was at Novi for four years and led the Wildcats to three straight district championships (’16, ’17 & ’18).
