Northville shuts out Stevenson in the second half, wins 24-14, in KLAA Central Division showdown

Livonia – Northville spotted Livonia Stevenson a 14-0, first quarter lead before it shut the Spartans down.

Quarterback Justin Zimbo rushed for 151 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries to lead Northville to a 24-14 victory over host Stevenson on Friday in a game for first place in the Kensington Lakes Activities Association Central Division.

Austin Petry scored on a 334-yard run on the game’s third play to give Stevenson a 7-0 lead.

After a three-and-out Stevenson went 58 yards in eight plays and Frank Carlin capped the drive on a 17-yard touchdown run.

Northville got on the board on the next series when Jake Moody kicked a 50-yard field goal.

A turning point took place late in the first half when Northville scored two touchdowns in the final 2:27.

Zimbo’s 4-yard touchdown run brought the Mustangs to within 14-10 and with 24 seconds left Zachary Prystash had an 8-yard touchdown run to give Northville a 17-14 halftime lead.

Zimbo scored the game’s final touchdown on a 13-yard run on the first play of the fourth quarter.

On the preceding series Stevenson was stopped a yard short of a first down on a fourth-and-2 try.
