Pegged For Success

Peggy Evans Carr is back in the Park. Evans Carr, a legend with few if any equals in the MHSAA girls basketball ranks, was recently hired as Oak Park’s lady hoop coach…..again. She was on the bench leading the Knights in the 2000s, too.

Over the past few years, Evans Carr has been at the helm of the girls cage programs at Inkster and River Rouge. At Inkster, she guided the program to a Class A state crown in 2011.

As a prepster herself, she was dominant in the middle for Birmingham Detroit Country Day (her 47 points in the 1989 state finals is an all-time record).  In college, she played at Tennessee for the legendary Pat Summit and then in the Big 10 at Ohio State.

This is a great grab for the Knights. Don’t be shocked if Evans Carr has Oak Park making deep runs in the state tournament soon.
