PLAYOFF PRIMER: Burney’s five backs to watch in the MHSAA postseason

By: , November 6, 2019, 4:31 pm

Five running backs to watch for in the 2019 football playoffs:

Tyler Amos (Portage Northern Sr.) — The best tailback on the west side of the state. Slippery speed merchant with great field vision. Amos has rushed for 1,800 yards and 18 touchdowns.

Jacob Sanders (Royal Oak Shrine Soph.) — This juggernaut of a jitterbug might be the most promising young rusher in the Catholic League. Don’t let his small size fool you, Sanders (pictured) can jet past a defense like a hot knife through butter. The definition of elusive.

Anthony Anton (Orchard Lake St. Mary’s Sr.) — All heart and determination rushing the rock. The breakout star in the backfield out of Oakland County this fall.

Kobe Manzo (Lake Orion Sr.) — Top power back in Metro Detroit. Frys and filets opposing tacklers like a gridiron iron chef. Possibly the best player in the state without any college offers.

Clarence Corbett (Woodhaven Sr.) — Punishing rusher who runs with a chip on his shoulder. Loves contact, tough as nails to bring down in between the tackles.
