Burney’s OAA Power Rankings — Boys Basketball Players

Matt Nicholson (Clarkston Jr. C) — Best overall “big” in the state, has legitimate shot at a triple double every night.

Yusuf Jihad (North Farmington Sr. C) — The top center in the state’s Class of 2019, the most upside of any player in Oakland County.

Maliq Carr (Oak Park Jr. F) — Beast mode 24/7, plays like a runaway freight train, a local version of Zion Williamson.

Donavan Moore (West Bloomfield Sr. G) — Finally healthy after missing more than a month with an ankle sprain, this future Toledo Rocket has the smoothest game in the OAA.

Sudi McElroy (Ferndale Sr. G/F) — A silent assassin on the wing, picture-perfect form, lightning-quick release.

D.Q. Cole (Pontiac Sr. G/F) — Disruptive presence in so many ways, delivering a senior campaign for the ages while bringing pride back to the historic ‘Yaktown cage scene.

Fletcher Loyer (Clarkston Fr. G) — The No. 1 freshman guard in the state … Yeah, I said it!!!

Tariq Shepherd (Farmington Sr. G) — The total package of a point guard, toughness and savvy by the truckload.

Jaden Akins (Farmington Soph. G) — Straight southpaw SICKNESS, the definitive combo guard and maybe the No. 1 backcourt prospect in the state’s sophomore class.
