Recruiting: King’s Marvin Grant commits to Purdue; Rouge’s Ferguson to the Air Force

One is ready to take the Big Ten by storm. The other is ready to fly.

Two of the state’s top football players in the Class of 2019 committed to colleges over the weekend, as Detroit King safety Marvin Grant committed to Purdue and River Rouge field general Emmanuel Ferguson pledged to attend the Air Force Academy.

A 4-star recruit and one of the hardest hitters the PSL has seen out of the secondary in quite a while, Grant (6-2, 195 pounds) held offers from Michigan and Notre Dame. He recorded 70 tackles and 4 picks last season and impressed scouts this spring with a 4.5 40-yard dash time at a recent showcase camp.

Ferguson (6-3, 185) quarterbacked River Rouge to the Division 4 final four last fall. Grant had his breakout as a college prospect during King’s run to a Division 2 state championship as a sophomore in 2016. Last season, King appeared in the state semifinals where it fell to eventual champion Warren De La Salle.
