Rice Riflemen Review Redux – A Year Makes A Big Difference

The quarterback situation at Birmingham Brother Rice is interesting. What used to be a position of great depth, is now relatively thin.
Standout sophomore Mariano Valenti’s shoulder strain kept him sidelined in the Warriors’ Week 6 21-0
loss to Orchard Lake St. Mary’s, forcing inexperienced backup David Mobius into action. Valenti is expected to return soon for 3-3 Brother Rice.
If you include, Valenti, four Brother Rice program field generals from the 2015 season are starting at the varsity level in 2016, three of them just not with the Big Orange. So, where are they?
Last fall’s opening day starter Johnny Tracy is heading the high-octane offense at Walled Lake Western in the KLAA. Tracy committed to play his college pigskin in the Ivy League at Princeton in the summer.
Brother Rice’s back-up last year, Steve Krajewski, who saw snaps in spot duty, is terrorizing secondaries in the Peach State at Colquitt County HS in Georgia. The Warriors JV QB in 2015, John Paddock is on the cusp of leading Bloomfield Hills to a league crown in the OAA Blue where the Black Hawks are surprisingly a perfect 6-0.
Calling Ann Arbor……where’s Alex Malzone when ya need him?
