Rock’n-and-Roll’n On The Hardwood – Almont Cage Crew Breaks Through To The Big Time

By: Scott Burnstein, February 16, 2017, 12:28 pm
The hoop renaissance at Almont High School has begun. Well, it actually began late last year.

Under first-year coach John Hall, who came over from Rochester Hills Adams over the summer, Class B Almont is having its best season in more than two decades. TEAM DECK THE HALLS is 12-3, 9-1 in league action out of the Blue-Water. The last league and district title for the Raiders was 24 years ago back in 1993. The previous two seasons leading up to Hall’s arrival, Almont only won a total of 11 games.

These fellas are playing with balance, composure, hunger and pride. In other words, the PERFECT COMBINATION on the hardwood.

“What’s most gratifying is how quickly these kids bought in to a new coach and new ideas, they’ve been 100 percent open to everything we’ve been preaching to them, all the changes we’ve made, since Day 1,” said Hall, the bench baron at Adams for 17 years, having taken the Highlanders into the Class A Sweet 16 last winter, losing to final-four participant Macomb Dakota in the regional championship. “The results were experiencing are a bonus. I’m pleasantly surprised to say the least.”

Alright, let’s roll call this hoop troop RAIDERSNATION STYLE!!

Zach Revoldt – Heart and soul of the club, senior captain, top scoring option at 10 points per night in the backcourt

Drew Revoldt – Baby bro, co-captain, playing like a SIR-SWAG-A-LOT on the wing

Eric Conn – Senior point guard, the club’s pacesetter and quarterback on the court, steady, heady and high hoop IQ

Ethan Hall – Can you say sniper? Can you say long-distance assassin?

Chase Kapron – Patrols the paint with vigor and tenacity, averaging almost a double-double on the blocks, notched 18 points and 10 boards in a dub vs. Yale Tuesday

Cade Tank – The prototypical glue guy and energy guy off the bench, providing rock-solid senior leadership for the Raiders’ reserve corps

Austin Watt – We’ve got a potential diaper dandy on our hands here…….. only a sophomore and already a master marksman

Clay Schapman – Think Bruce Bowen of the 2000s San Antonio Spurs…..the quintessential defensive stopper

Jordan Bourdeau – Just a SIR-GRIND-A-LOT pure and simple…..any questions?
