Duane Washington will be playing his senior season of hoops in Los Angeles.

The 6-foot-3 floor general, one of the best boys basketball players in the state of Michigan last year, enrolled at Sierra Canyon High School in Chatsworth, California this week and has moved in with his uncle, retired NBA point guard Derek Fisher.

Last season, Washington helped lead Grand Rapids Christian into the Class A state championship game. He averaged 15 points and five assists per game in 2017. Over the past six months, he’s garnered more than 30 Division I college scholarship offers.

The University of Michigan came in with a bid earlier this month. Missouri, Clemson, Iowa State, Butler, UNC-Charlotte, Cincinnati, New Mexico, Virginia Tech, Rhode Island, Tulsa and UNLV have all offered.

Sierra Canyon is one of the top prep programs in America, ranked No. 1 in the country for a period of time last winter. Fisher played 18 years in the NBA, winning five world titles with the L.A. Lakers.
