STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Detroit U-D Jesuit safety Elijah Rikard commits to Central Michigan

Detroit U-D Jesuit safety Elijah Rikard continued Central Michigan’s recent run on defensive players from Southeast Michigan, committing to the Chippewas on Friday afternoon.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back made his announcement with a video on Twitter Friday afternoon, accompanied by the message “What’s understood, doesn’t need to be explained … 100 (percent) committed.”
Rikard chose the Chippewas from 12 offers, including most of the Mid-American Conference (Akron, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Ball State, Kent State, Miami (Ohio)) as well as Morgan State, Western Illinois and Temple.
According to the 247Sports rankings, Rikard is a three-star prospect, ranked as the No. 42 player in Michigan’s 2021 class, and the No. 107 safety in the nation.
Within the last three weeks, the Chippewas have reeled in Macomb Dakota’s D.J. Stepney, Clinton Roberson and Eric Reese, along with River Rouge’s mammoth defensive tackle, Pius Odjugo, and Saginaw Heritage wideout Chris Parker, as part of an 11-player class to date.
