STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Eying the Field > Keeping up with Indiana’s gridiron Class of ’22
Burney gives you a dozen sophomore football players from across Indiana to watch this offseason:
Caden Curry (Center Grove 6-foot-5, 260-pound DL) — Some scouts are tabbing Curry the top overall college prospect in the entire state of Indiana. Weapon of mass destruction, plain and simple. Purdue, Kansas State, Arizona State and Missouri all recently offered. [PICTURED]
Demon Moore (Ft. Wayne Snider 6-foot-5, 300-pound OL) — The hottest recruit in the class right now, force of nature type protecting the quarterback. Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee and Texas A&M all offered this month.
Joey Tanona (Zionsville 6-foot-5, 285-pound OL) — The hottest recruit in the class right now Pt. 2, pancake power personified. Ohio State, Notre Dame and Michigan all offered this month.
Keylen Davis (Ben Davis 6-foot-5, 265-pound OL) — This workhorse at the point of attack is gaining a lot of traction in the offer department as Indiana, Purdue and Cincinnati each came in with bids last week.
Tayven Jackson (Center Grove 6-foot-5, 190-pound QB) — Probably the signal-caller with the highest upside in the state right now. Can be electric on both the gridiron and the hardwood. Indiana just offered.
Kenneth Grant (Merrillville 6-foot-4, 325-pound DT) — Everything you want in a run stuffer and a stout presence in the middle of your D-Line. The floodgates will open on his recruiting soon. Bowling Green is his only current offer, but Indiana and Purdue are said to be on the verge of putting bids on the table.
Landen Livingston (Leo 6-foot-6, 275-pound OL) — Phenomenal blocker, mauls the competition on a regular. Michigan State, Indiana and Purdue all offered last week.
Omar Cooper Jr. (Lawrence North 6-foot-1, 170-pound WR) — Crafty and speedy is a tough combination to defend. West Virginia sent a bid his way last week.
Justin Fisher (Mishawaka 6-foot-1, 185-pound QB) — Does a lot of special things leading a team, student of the game. Think Tebow at Florida.
Popeye Williams (Westfield 6-foot-3, 225-pound DE) — Excellent jump off the snap coming after the quarterback, fundamentally-sound in his technique. Mid-majors are pursuing (half-dozen MAC offers) and the Big Ten is sniffing in his direction. Indiana and Purdue should offer by the end of the summer.
Ebon Person (Ft. Wayne Wayne 6-foot-3, 210-pound S) — Brimming with potential in the secondary, expect a breakout season in 2020. Perfect fit for being plugged into a “viper” spot at the next level.
Mo Omonode (West Lafayette 6-foot-2, 250-pound DL) — The No. 1 motor in Tippecanoe County, flies to the ball with a ferocious spirit.
