STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Mooresville OT Jaelin Alstott-VanDeVanter commits to Purdue, following in cousins’ footsteps

By: , January 10, 2020, 12:18 pm

This kid has Boilermaker written all over him.

The Black & Gold runs in his blood.

Mooresville junior offensive lineman Jaelin Alstott-VanDeVanter committed to Purdue this week, following in the footsteps of two esteemed relatives. The 6-foot-7, 280 pounder plays tackle and is a cousin of Boilermakers all-time greats Mike Alstott (retired Pro-Bowl NFL fullback) and Anthony Spencer (retired Pro-Bowl NFL linebacker).

Alstott-VanDeVanter is a three-star prospect and the second grab for Purdue’s 2021 recruiting class. Displaying excellent footwork and great blocking technique, he’s mobile, agile and nails-tough in the trenches. Back in the fall, he helped take Mooresville to a 10-3 mark and a Class 4A sectional championship.

Brownsburg wide receiver Preston Terrell was Purdue coach Jeff Brohm’s first commit for his Class of ’21 last September. Zionsville center Gus Hartwig and Anglola linebacker Ryan Brandt are headed to West Lafayette later this year.
