STATE CHAMPS! SCOUT TEAM: Take It To The Bank — Brownsburg hoopsters make college connections

Cash money, baby!
Brownsburg is rich on the wing. That wealth on the hardwood out of the front court has attracted the college scouts.
Last weekend, a pair of Bulldog forwards found homes at the next level as 6-foot-6 junior pogo stick Pierce Thomas committed to Butler and senior Malek Edmonds, a 6-foot-5 thrasher of a “3,” announced he’ll be signing with nearby NAIA Marian University.
The Bulldogs entered the state tournament at 18-4, looking for their first sectional title in three years, and opened with a 55-49 win over Avon Tuesday night. They play Terre Haute South Vigo in the sectional semifinals Friday night at 6 p.m.
Thomas is a state champion long jumper in track in the spring and can straight out fly in the open floor. His shooting improved greatly over last offseason. He averages 15 points and five rebounds per night. Cincinnati had also come after him hard in his recruiting process.
Edmonds posts 17 points and eight boards a game and plays with high energy and tenacity. He can slash, shoot and defend well and has upped his scoring average by more than three buckets a night this winter. Marian is located in Indianapolis and sits at 24-7 headed into the NAIA tournament. Edmonds recently made it back into the lineup after being sidelined eight games due to a injury.
