Vegas, baby, Vegas!!!
North Farmington sensational senior cager and 2017 Mr. Basketball finalist Amauri Hardy will be playing his college on the Las Vegas Strip. An explosive and crafty 6-foot-2 combo guard, Hardy signed with UNLV on a trip to campus in Nevada Wednesday afternoon and joins McDonald’s All-American big fella Brandon McCoy, who inked with the Runnin’ Rebels Tuesday.
Hardy dropped in 29 points per game this winter. Last season as a junior, he helped take his North Farmington club into the Class A state finals and was originally committed to Oklahoma State. Ten days ago, Hardy visited Arkansas. He chose UNLV over bids from OSU, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Cincinnati, Seton Hall and VCU.
UNLV competes out of the Mountain West Conference. The Runnin’ Rebels have had prior success recruiting backcourt studs from the Detroit area. The program’s 1990 NCAA National Championship squad featured Detroit Southwestern product Anderson Hunt, the MVP of the Final Four that year.
