P.J. Fleck might be off to Minnesota, but Western Michigan’s football program is still keeping a heavy focus on recruiting the Detroit area under new coach Tim Lester, a former Broncos team captain and starting signal caller in the 1990s. Over the weekend Lester secured a pair of pledges from the PSL with the commitments of Detroit Central junior quarterback El Julian (Ju Ju) Jordan and Detroit Cass Tech defensive end Andre Carter to WMU.

 

Both are considered 3-star recruits and helped lead their respective high school squads to district championships last fall. WMU now has six commits on board for its Class of 2018 stable.

 

Jordan (6-foot-3, 215 pounds) is the top field general prospect in the Motor City. He came over to Central last year from Detroit King and had offers from WMU, EMU and Bowling Green. 

 

Carter (6-foot-4, 250 pounds) may very well be the best pure pass rusher in the PSL without having actually played a game in the PSL. He got to Cass Tech back in February from Southfield A&T (OAA Red) and chose the Broncos over almost a dozen additional bids from the likes of Iowa State, Boston College, Ball State, Cincinnati, Buffalo, EMU, Central Michigan, Temple and Toledo.
