The X Marks The Spot – Playoff Edition

Some boys hoopsters Burney thinks will be X-FACTORS in Tuesday’s Class A quarterfinals:

Jamyrin Jackson & LeAndre Wright (Lansing Everett) – The lynchpins of this Cinderella club shooting for a second trip in a row to the final four. Everett was a .500 team to open the postseason, but Jackson and Wright have been carrying the squad on its’ back in the playoffs (see Wednesday’s upset of East Lansing)

Trevon Webster (Macomb Dakota) – Sneaky and efficient in the backcourt, unafraid of the big moment, opponents’ think you have his teammate Jermaine Jackson contained and Webster goes and notches a 20-ball

Scotty Nelson (Detroit U-D Jesuit) – The best sixth-man in the Catholic League, football star that can gun on the basketball court and plays stingy defense  

Zach Winston (Detroit U-D Jesuit) – Bombs from deep just as well as his big bro (Jesuit PG Cassius) knifes into the lane, heats up in a hurry, comfortable with being a role player, deceptively quick release, textbook stroke

Jacob Joubert & Alex Darden (North Farmington) – This pair of four-year starters are the Raiders’ leaders, anchors and heart and soul. Joubert is the consummate pace-setting point guard, Darden is a manchild patrolling the paint
