True Maize & Blue – GRCC Lineman Mayfield Headed For Harbaugh Country

From Minnesota to Michigan, Minneapolis to Ann Arbor.
Grand Rapids Catholic Central junior offensive lineman Jalen Mayfield, considered by someexperts the No. 1 college football prospect in the state’s Class of 2018, committed to theUniversity of Michigan this week. Mayfield, a 6-foot-6, 260 pound 4-star tackle, had originally committed to the University of Minnesota prior to the Golden Gopher’s coaching change. The recruiting website 24/7.com currently lists him as its top player in the junior class.
Mayfield had over a dozen scholarship offers to choose from, including power-conference bids out of Michigan State, Nebraska, Iowa, Arizona, Syracuse and Pitt, in addition to the Maize and Blue and Team Row the Boat. He is UofM’s ninth commit for their 2018 recruiting crop, second from the in-state ranks, following in the footsteps of 4-star defensive end Aidan Hutchinson (Dearborn Divine Child).
