United States Hockey League teams select 25 more players with Michigan ties in Phase II of 2020 draft

After 16 Michiganders were picked in Phase I of the United States Hockey League draft on Monday, 25 more players with Michigan roots were taken in the 24 rounds of Phase II on Tuesday.
It started with two first-rounders — Muskegon’s Tanner Latsch at pick No. 4 and Saline’s Davis Pennington at No. 11 — and wrapped up with a pair of high schoolers in Rounds 21 and 23. Detroit Country Day defenseman Jacob Thomas was selected with the seventh pick of Round 21 by Sioux Falls, which turned around two rounds later and tabbed Novi Detroit Catholic Central forward Kyle Gaffney with the seventh pick in Round 23.
