Vacancies On The Bench – Cager Coaching Farewells

By: Jeff Dullack, April 27, 2017, 12:09 pm
Let’s talk about 10 recent boys basketball coaching openings across the state.

Alright, ready, set, go:

Gladstone – On the heels of being named the AP’s Upper Peninsula’s Coach of the Year (ABC) for the 2017 campaign, where he took his club to an 18-6 record and an appearance in the Class B regional finals, Clayton Castor voluntarily resigned this week, citing, among other reasons, too much parent interference. Sadly a sign of the times…preach on Coach C!!!

Ann Arbor Pioneer – Rumors are swirling that a “big-splash hire” may be on the horizon, stay tuned folks!

Bloomfield Hills – Was surprised by this vacancy only a year removed from a league title in the OAA White

Madison Heights Bishop Foley – The Ventures are venturing towards a new look on the hardwood, wait for it…….

Rochester – It’s the end of Pleasantville in the Falcons’ Nest….Man, his teams played hard!!!

Walled Lake Northern – Ronnie Thompson put Knights hoops on the map and he deserves mad props so Burney’s going to give it to him!!!

Waterford Mott – Jeff Jayson will be missed…..’Nuff Said!!

Traverse City St. Francis – Burney wishes retiring Gladiators boys & girls sideline general, Keith Haske nothing but health and happiness moving forward (throat cancer doesn’t stand a chance now that Haske will be solely focused on kicking its tail). Haske previously coached at St. John’s and Charlevoix.

Bay City John Glenn – Dale Clyde leaves the bench after 14 years as the program’s all-time winningest coach

Roseville – Everything will be coming up roses again in Roseville cage country very, very soon…..That’s a certified Burney guarantee!!!
