Venturing To The Valley – Flint Area RB Reid Runs To GVSU

By: Scott Burnstein, November 28, 2017, 3:00 pm
Davison football great Tariq Reid wrapped up his college recruiting over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend by committing to Grand Valley State. Reid (5-foot-10, 205 yards) had previously been eying the Ivy League and U.S. Service Academy route, but instead opted for the DII power located right here at home in The Mitten.

His relentless style running the rock was contagious at the high school level. The Davison Cardinals were nails tough these past couple campaigns, combining to go 19-3.

He leaves the prep ranks with 5,834 career yards on the ground, which establishes a new Genesee County record.

This season Reid rushed for 1,115 yards and 12 scores. Last year, he was one of only two players in the state to eclipse the 2,000-yard mark and scored 36 touchdowns, while being named a finalist in the Mr. Football race. GVSU, a traditional Top 20 team in the nation, finished 8-3 in 2017.
