Volleyball regional pairings for 2019 MHSAA postseason
One week into the volleyball postseason, and the field is whittled down to 128 district winners, each vying for one of the eight regional titles in each division.
Two of the top 10 teams (according to the Week 11 rankings by the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association) in each of the four divisions were ousted in district play, but several of the remaining ranked teams are clustered in a few regionals.
Regional 3 in Division 1 has the No. 2 (Lowell), No. 4 (Hudsonville), No. 5 (Byron Center) and No. 8 (Grand Haven) teams, while Regional 3 has No. 1 Farmington Hills Mercy vs. No. 7 Birmingham Marian in Tuesday’s regional semifinals. In Division 2, No. 1 Grand Rapids Christian — the defending champs — could face No. 3 Coopersville in the regional finals, while No. 2 Lake Odessa Lakewood could face No. 7 Parma Western in the regional title match. In Division 3, No. 1 Schoolcraft and No. 5 Bronson will play Tuesday, while No. 1 Mendon and No. 3 Battle Creek St. Philip are on the opposite sides of the bracket at the Division 4 regional at Martin.
